Year 4 Curriculum Coverage

Welcome to Year 4. We have lots of exciting topics to study – Invasion, Misty Mountain, Winding River and Ancient Civilisations and we cannot wait to get started! Our curriculum newsletters will give you more information about each of the topics as we study them so keep your eyes peeled!

One of the other focuses this year will be on learning all of those times tables so make sure that your TTrockstars account is working well and that you are learning the times tables each week and then practising them to make them speedy as this will definitely help you to be successful in those times tables tests each week!

Other online learning platforms that are available are Bug Club for Reading and Mathletics for maths practise as well as Seesaw where you can find your homework.  If you are having any issues with any of these, please email Year4@harrowlodgeprimary.com we will try our best to help you.

We look forward to working with you all this year!

Our topics for the autumn term are  Invasion and Interconnected World.

Invasion

Big and strong, powerful and brave, the Saxons wave their battle axes and brandish their swords as they begin to invade Britain’s shores. Sail back to the Dark Ages, where battles were rife and fear reigned. Find out about the lives of the Saxons, including how they lived and where they came from. Meet the bloodthirsty Vikings from Scandinavia – never before had such terror swept the land. Are you ready to shine a light on the dangerous and deadly Dark Ages?

Interconnected World

This essential skills and knowledge project teaches children about compass points and four and six-figure grid references. They learn about the tropics and the countries, climates and culture of North and South America. Children identify physical features in the United Kingdom and learn about the National Rail and canal networks. They conduct an enquiry to prove a hypothesis, gathering data from maps and surveys before drawing conclusions.
